The Two Wonders of Niagara Falls

By Carole Laberge

January 2007

A great news, Wakin will be in Niagara falls, Canada, February 23th & 24th 2007.

One month to prepare, to go to the best show, to see the best singer, the great entertainer.

One month so long, one month so quick at the same time.

Good news for me too, I'll meet Kristy. We worked often on the Net to make projects for WaKin.

Now I have 2 good reasons to go in Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls, Canada.

Sometimes it's unbelievable what nature does. Erosion created Lake Ontario 74.2 meter under Lake Erie. The water is falling one to the other beautifully...

The only thing you can tell in front those impressive falls is Wow!

The Niagara Falls are spectacular. Breathtaking. Unique. One of the wonders of this world.

One fall is in USA and the other in Canada.

February 23, 2007

Kristy and I passed the day together. You can imagine what was the subject--we are two big fans of WaKin, it was so pleasant to discuss about the CD's, the movies, the concerts.

At 7:30pm, Kristy and I dressed to the nine, we got in the theater slowly. Beautiful place with all red velvet seats. Butterflies in the stomach, the waiting is unbearable.

Will it be 7:55 pm forever...7:56pm....7:58pm ...8:00pm?

The musicians gets on the stage. First note....... now, the music is supporting a movie on the screen standing over the stage; the last 20 years in WaKin's career.

Suddenly, a voice is coming from backstage.

The Voice.

The warm, charming, unique voice of this great singer. He appears all in white, the rhinestones make him look like a diamond. But we all know that he's a real gem.

After few songs, he asked the spectators if they speak Cantonese or Mandarin. They were more Mandarin speaking persons. He is sweet enough to wish us Happy New Year in both languages and in English, it was very nice of him. As we all know he has a great sense of humor, he made a few jokes during the concert. As Kristy, I didn't understand but people laughed and seemed to enjoy them. I should get back to Mandarin lessons for the next concert. He was in a great shape vocally and physically.

Around 20 minutes after the beginning of the show, in the middle a song, the lights went on. I taught that he wanted to see the audience. WaKin seems a little surprised. Now we can hear distinctively an alarm ringing, a woman voice asking us to stay calm and to wait for future instructions. I couldn't believe it. Not now! Not in WaKin's concert! A fire alarm!

WaKin stopped singing. He talked with few technicians. He waited on the stage with a rare calm.

He didn't show any impatience or signs of anxiety. At that moment, I supposed that many things were running in WaKin's head. He surely wishes that he could finish the show because he surely didn't want to disappointed the people who were there. After 5 or 10 minutes, the alarm stopped, technicians get back to arrange microphones for WaKin. The show continued. It was a false alarm. Happy ending!

Knowing how the concentration is important for singer to give the best of himself during a show, I only can admire more the professionalism, the great way he handled the situation.

To let the chance to WaKin to change, the violinist Lee Chi played with 2 other violinists, a beautiful classic piece. Great performance.

WaKin got back with a pair of sequins black pair of paints and a very deep pink embroidered shirt.

My favorite.

People were happy to celebrate New Year with him. So WaKin received many Red Envelopes and of course those huge beautiful flowers.

The show went on for 2 hours. WaKin performed as I have never seen him perform, never been as good as that night. He sang all his great success, "Sad Song", "Friends", "In the Rain" only to name few.

He sang in English too, so thoughtful, I was very happy. He sang so beautifully "Fly Me The Moon".

But the song that made me fly to the moon was "Yesterday", because he sang it for us.

At the end, he got back with his pearled, painted jeans and a red shirt. He looked good in it--even more relaxed. Two hours fled so fast. Always like that when you are at WaKin's concert.

It was a fantastic show, spectacular as the Falls themselves.

That night, there were two wonders at Niagara Falls.

The only thing you could say after the show was Wow!

Chau WaKin is spectacular. Breathtaking. Unique. One of the wonders of the music world.
